"If you can not measure it, you can not improve it"
This is a not so famous quote from the mathematical physicist and engineer William Thompson.
At the People Experience Hub we know that there is a lot of debate about measuring engagement, happiness and such-like. The debate normally starts with "Well what is it?" and no two parties can agree!
So we seek opinion about the experience of work - how was it? What worked well? What stops you being amazing today?
We think we need to look at more that just Employee Experience (Ex) and talk about People Experience (Px) as not all people in your organisation are your employees.
We work with industry leaders to understand the world of work so that we can support you in making your peoples' experience of this the best it can be.
There are may reasons why we advocate measuring the Px of your organisation...
New draft legislation on corporate governance require any business with more than 250 people to summarise how directors had engaged with employees throughout the year.
The PxHub pulse survey is a great way of making sure your people feel communicated to and fully understand the company goals and plans.
It makes sense that if your people are well (financially, physically and psychologically) and they have a great experience at work they will be more productive, right?
Well it is also backed up by some research by Fairhurst and Connor in 2010.
We look at a four box grid to look at how wellbeing and engagement and productivity come together to produce great people and company results.
"Whilst highly engaged employees are generally productive, when that productivity is not coupled with wellbeing, there is a real risk of burnout" Fairhurst and Connor 2010
Using technology should never replace the human to human aspect of the People Experience.
Using our tech enables you to have great conversations about what makes a person's experience of work amazing and what needs to be improved.
Honest feedback delivered via real-time analytics helps play a part in really understanding your people and how they are feeling.
Studies by the CIPD and Oxford Economics/Unum show that employee turnover costs businesses across the world a large amount of money.
Having great data by using the PxHub and reducing turnover typically pays for itself many times over.
Some of the costs by industry from the Oxford Economics/Unum study are show below:
